I just wanted to take a minute to express my gratitude in what your program has done for my son, Trevor Pierce.  Trevor had expressed an interest in boxing, but I was the one that was nervous about him taking that path especially with him being only 13 years old at the time.   Mr. Byers was very understanding and explained everything to my husband and I before Trevor started the training program.  There were no promises made of him being the next heavy weight champion of the world and Mr. Byers assured us that before Trevor would actually start boxing that our son would be taught the skills, the fundamentals and conditioning that would be necessary to compete in his boxing/kickboxing program.

Mr. Byers took Trevor under his wing and, as promised, trained Trevor not only with the skills & fundamentals of boxing, but discipline and respect.  At the age of 13 ½, Trevor earned several awards, going undefeated in kickboxing and ultimately winning the Dallas Golden Gloves in his division. The discipline that Trevor learned has ultimately helped carry him in other parts of his life such as education, other athletic programs and with his peers.

I have never been prouder as a parent and as impressed with the training style of Mr. Byers. I have recommended other parents to send their children to him.  Mr. Byers is not only a skilled and knowledgeable coach, but is a friend and mentor to his students.  He teaches them life skills as well as to defend themselves.

I can’t begin to thank him enough for helping to make Trevor a confident, secure and mature young man.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sharon Pierce

About  Coach Byers:

Name – Jerry D. Byers / Martial Art, Boxing and Kickboxing Coach/Instructor
Age – 52 years young

I have been involved in the Martial Arts for 37 years. I started in a Boxing/Judo program at The Panther Boys Club in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1971. My mother, a single parent, thought it was a good idea to have my little brother and I learn to defend ourselves. We lived on the east side of Ft. Worth and were having problems with some of the local toughs in our neighborhood. After about 6 months of training my brother and I no longer had problems with anybody.

It was in 1976 that I started training in Full Contact Karate under the instruction of Travis Everitt a world class contender. Since that time I have expanded my studies in several Martial Art Disciplines including HungGar Gung Fu, Shorin Ryu Karate, Hapkido, American Free Style Karate, Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do, Chin Sook Hage Kwan, & Moo Duk Kwan. In addition I have studied the Fillipino Martial Arts of Modern Arnis and Arnis De Leon. I have achieved belt rankings in every style I have studied and currently hold Certified 3rd Dan ranking in both Chin Sook Hage Kwan and Chung Do Kwan as well as 1st Dan ranking from The Korea Moo Duc Kwan Tae Kwon Do Association of Korea. I have been certified as a Texas State Referee and have current Boxing and Kickboxing Coach Certification as well as receiving awards from USAKA and TKO as both a referee and judge.

In all my years of competition as a karate fighter, my training has always consisted of the boxing training I had learned as a youth. In doing so, I have earned Top Ten, State and Regional awards. I have always had a gift for teaching and working with people to help them achieve their goals and has been a love of mine for many years. I have researched and studied under several gifted instructors and trainers and have had great success with my boxing/kickboxing programs.

I would encourage anyone wanting to get into shape, supplement their current workouts, or learn to defend themselves to come work out with us. We offer a free introductory class, reasonable rates with classes 5 times per week. Private lessons for the individual and groups are also available. So stop talking about it, get your hands up and your chin down and lets get ready to get in the best fighting shape of your life. I look forward to helping you achieve all of your fitness goals.

Sincerely,

Coach Byers
