You may know Paige Young from a variety of places. Her kids went to school at Allen High School, she's an elementary school teacher at Marion Elementary in Allen, she's active in her church and she's also the co-owner and a 3rd Degree Black Belt at Family Martial Arts.
As a Third Degree Black Belt, Paige Young knows when she's up against a feisty competitor. With the strength of her knowledge in martial arts equaling her strength in her faith in God, Paige went toe-to-toe against her biggest opponent in her life...Breast Cancer.
Although Paige has faced many challenges through her tenure in martial arts, nothing could quite prepare her for the challenge she faced in 2007 when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. True to her spirit and motto of "Fight Like a Girl," Paige rallied with the love of her husband, family and friends to support her as she battled Cancer head-on.
Facing a double mastectomy over the 2007 holiday season coupled with some battles that ensued with her insurance company over the procedures that needed to be done, Paige triumphed and proved to Breast Cancer that it was no match for her indomitable spirit.
Today, just 90 days after her major surgery, Paige is back in the dojo, enduring Black Belt workouts and proving to everyone that when you face a challenge, no matter how large or small, you do have the ability to win. With Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and an Indomitable Spirit you can do anything.
On January 29th, Family Martial Arts introduced their newest 4th Degree Black Belt - Paige Young with a new Black Belt embroidered with her last name Young, 4 red stars and the word "SURVIVOR" in pink.
Congratulations Paige!
